«Peaks and Values»… A Vision Shaping the New Asir
Asir 2030: When Nature Becomes an Economy

Today, Asir is emerging as one of Saudi Arabia’s destinations with the greatest potential to bring together nature, people, and investment through a development project that goes beyond attracting visitors to creating a world-class destination throughout the year.
The “Peaks and Values” vision for Asir is built around transforming the region’s natural and cultural assets into a sustainable tourism economy—one that preserves Asiri identity, develops infrastructure, and creates opportunities for high-quality investment, with the aim of positioning the region as a major destination on both the Saudi and international tourism maps.
Within this framework, I respectfully ask the Asir Emirate to allow me to share my humble perspective on how this vision can succeed. First, priorities must be clearly defined. Second, environmental sustainability must protect the mountains and villages from the pressure of visitors through smart crowd management and renewable water resources. At the same time, local empowerment should train Saudi nationals in world-class hospitality and integrate farmers and their products into hotels and major tourism projects.
A Creators’ Forum dedicated to hospitality, restaurants, and hotel services could also become an important platform for developing the tourism experience by exchanging expertise and creating new concepts in reception, accommodation, and local cuisine. This would transform Asiri products into an integral part of the visitor experience and regional identity, rather than merely an accompanying service.
Asir also needs sustainable marketing that establishes it as an all-season destination through diverse events and packages connecting the mountain experience with the sea in neighboring Jazan. Particular emphasis should be placed on family tourism through safe trails, entertainment and cultural experiences suitable for children and families, and flexible hospitality services that enhance visitor comfort and encourage longer stays.
In addition, flexible investment support can play a vital role by financing small projects that restore heritage houses and transform them into rural guesthouses. This would create opportunities for local residents, preserve the region’s architectural memory, and offer visitors an authentic experience within the local community.
Alongside these efforts, the use of artificial intelligence to manage tourist movement between the airport and various destinations could enable Asir to present an advanced Saudi model: modern development, a deeply rooted identity, and tourism that respects the place before investing in it.
